Sustainable Home Brisbane

AGDF Case Study can be viewed in DOWNLOADS below. SUSTAINABLE HOME BRISBANE IS NOW CLOSED.

Raising awareness; leading by example.

Part of the Queensland Government Sustainable Homes program, Sustainable Home Brisbane, Seventeen Mile Rocks, provides industry, government, community groups, and the public an opportunity to learn about sustainable housing design and living. AGDF members play a vital role in the project.

The significant interest in this project, as evidenced by the number of visitors during the first four months, confirms the growing awareness of the importance of sustainability building and design.

The Housing Industry of Australia, this year, honoured Sustainable Home Brisbane with the national HIA GreenSmart Building of the Year award, national HIA GreenSmart Water Efficient Housing award, and Brisbane/Gold Coast HIA GreenSmart Energy Efficient Housing award.

These awards recognise the cost-effective environmental features and practices, in its construction and operation; innovative and replicable approaches to integrated water including overall water consumption and demonstrated protection of the natural water environment; and innovative approach to energy efficiency through passive solar design, passive air cooling and heating, and use of solar energy.

Sustainable Home Brisbane sets a benchmark for future housing design in subtropical Queensland.
