Qld Government Releases Climate Change Strategy Newsletter
The Queensland Government released its updated and revised climate change strategy on August 20. ClimateQ places the state on a sound platform to move ahead in meeting the challenge of climate change. The strategy provides a broad suite of programs, policies and initiatives designed to complement the Commonwealth Government’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme and the
Renewable Energy Target.
The OCC will be working with state agencies and key stakeholder groups over the coming year to ensure that the ClimateQ program is effectively implemented.
ClimateQ is the next step, not the last step for Queensland in our approach to climate change. Ultimately their fundamental objective is to ensure that we make an effective transition to a lower carbon economy. Queensland must avoid and seek to minimise as much as possible the higher carbon prices and costs that will arise throughout the world in coming years and decades.
