AGDF pilot program for local governments
Earlier this year, Chris Tanner of Bligh Tanner and Rob Van Iersel of Geo Link both Directors of AGDF together with Ailsa Brown the CEO met with representatives from the Local Government Association of Queensland.
A discussion was held and it was well recognised that sustainable development is something that needs to be embraced for the future prosperity of our communities. Hence there is a strong need for well delivered, practical seminars and workshops covering this subject.
Researching, setting up and running forums takes time and experience. Furthermore, skills and resources in local government and the development industry are generally stretched, making it difficult for ongoing education in new areas such as sustainable development to find a place on the agenda. It is the intention of AGDF to provide this service to local governments in Queensland, tailoring it specifically to their needs.
The development of this program is ongoing with the initial pilot program set for September working with the Gold Coast City Council and industry representatives from that region.
We look forward to providing further information on this program as it becomes available.
