Getting to know Your Development
If you’re in the business of urban development and planning, then stay tuned for the launch of a new online ‘one-stop shop’ website, full of information about creating sustainable developments.
Your Development is a national project led by CSIRO in partnership with the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA). The site will be edited by the Australian Green Development Forum, an independent advocacy body dedicated to accelerating sustainable development across Australia.
The site will be a dynamic web portal, with information about sustainable and innovative urban development. The ‘Your Development’ web portal will fill the information gap for urban developers and give essential industry case studies and easy-to-find research expertise. Your Development is due to be launched in September 2008 and will allow access to dozens of fact sheets and real-life case studies from Australia and around the world.
All factsheets are written by experts and have been through a stringent review process. Topics include:
• Site ecology;
• Place making & social sustainability;
• Estate design; Access & transport;
• Materials & recycling;
• Water management;
• Energy management; and
• Sustainability management.
Users will be able to leave comments and follow links to related online resources or research. Over time, the interactivity and depth of the information will grow.
You may already be familiar with the practical and informative sites of the DEWHA’s Your Home www.yourhome.gov.au and the CRC for Construction Innovation/DEWHA Your Building www.yourbuilding.org.
